In the quiet early mornings, a kettle whistles in the kitchen as a grandparent tunes the radio to the familiar hum of news. A voice in the front garden calls out, “Lucy lets go, it’s time for school!” – and moments later, small feet dash into the flat and little Lucy throws herself at grandpa for a quick kiss and hug. Across the garden, Tarryn watches with a full heart and a ticking clock, knowing the school run awaits – but also feeling deeply grateful for the bond between generations and the calming peace that comes from having family close. This is multigenerational living – not just a trend, but a way of life that’s returning to the heart of the South African home. With property prices rising, urban land shrinking and family dynamics shifting, more households are embracing the idea of three or more generations living under one roof. What was once common in rural homesteads has found new relevance in suburban Johannesburg, coastal Durban and the village streets of the Eastern Cape. And while the financial advantages are clear – shared bond repayments, lower utility costs and pooled resources – the emotional and cultural rewards run even deeper. Children grow up with the wisdom of elders. Ageing parents remain active and included. Parents gain support. Young professionals get a leg-up while saving for their first property. Meals are shared, traditions passed down and that elusive work-life balance becomes just a little more possible when help is close at hand. But to make it work – really work – the house itself must be more than just a shelter for many people. It must be a deliberately designed space that honours privacy, nurtures connection and adapts to the different stages of life. Here are five essential tips for designing an intergenerational home that feels like home for everyone. ✅ 1. Design for Privacy and Autonomy “We’re together – but we all still need a door to close.” Privacy isn’t a luxury in a shared home – it’s a necessity for peace of mind. Without it, small annoyances can quickly become major tensions, especially when different generations have different schedules, values or noise levels. The golden rule? Everyone deserves their own space. At minimum, this means a private bedroom for each family unit. Where possible, consider: En-suite bathrooms for elderly parents or independent adult children Mini kitchenettes or tea stations in private suites Garden cottages or flatlets with their own entrances Sound-insulated walls or floors between living areas If you’re building or renovating, factor in clever zoning. Locate senior family members on the ground floor for easier access and place teenage or young adult rooms in quieter corners of the home. This isn’t about isolation – it’s about respecting each person’s rhythm and right to retreat. ✅ 2. Create Welcoming Shared Spaces “A shared life needs shared space.” While privacy is essential, so too is the magic of coming together – for meals, birthdays, after-school stories or just the everyday rhythm of life. Designing open, flexible communal areas is vital for keeping family ties strong. Here’s how: Open-plan kitchens encourage conversations while cooking Dining areas with expandable tables can host everyone, from toddlers to grandparents Lounges with layered lighting and modular furniture suit movie nights, quiet reading or afternoon visitors Outdoor patios or stoep spaces can double as social hubs, especially in summer The goal is not just to fit everyone in, but to make these spaces warm, uncluttered and accommodating. Pay attention to flow, natural light, ventilation and noise control. A well-designed living room should feel inviting at 7am and 7pm. And don’t forget storage. The more people in the house, the more important it is to have places for things to belong – especially when shared space is at a premium. ✅ 3. Prioritise Adaptability in Design “Your family will change. So should your home.” Today, your home may need space for an elderly parent recovering from surgery. Next year, it may need a home office or a nursery. Five years from now, you might need to convert that garage into a student flat. The secret? Build in flexibility from the start – because a rigid layout today could become a real frustration tomorrow. Some smart, future-ready ideas include: Multipurpose rooms that shift from playroom to study to guest bedroom as needed Dual-purpose furniture like murphy beds, fold-down desks and sleeper couches Pre-installed plumbing and electrical points in garages or outbuildings, to enable future conversions Neutral finishes (tiles, paint, cabinetry) that suit all ages and stages, saving on future redecorating costs Non-loadbearing interior walls that allow for layout changes later Staircases designed with the option for stairlifts or wide enough for future accessibility needs Sliding partitions or stackable doors that let you open up or close off rooms depending on how the home is being used These design choices may seem small at the time, but they create a home that can bend without breaking as life changes. It’s not just about saving money on future renovations – it’s about designing with foresight and compassion, giving your family room to adapt without upheaval. ✅ 4. Include Universal Accessibility Features “A home that works for a wheelchair works for a pram too.” A true intergenerational home must be designed for every stage of life, from toddler to elder. Many accessibility features benefit the whole household – not just those with visible mobility challenges. And if you plan for them now, you’ll avoid stress (and expense) down the line. Consider: Step-free entrances and thresholds Wider doorways and hallways for wheelchairs or walkers Lever-style door handles instead of knobs Walk-in showers with seating and grab bars Non-slip tiles in bathrooms and kitchens Motion sensor lighting in corridors and outdoor areas Think of this as designing with dignity – making sure your home is not only beautiful, but safe, inclusive and easy to live in. ✅ 5. . Integrate Outdoor Space for Everyone“Sometimes the best way to live well together is to step outside.”When multiple generations share a home, the great outdoors can become a powerful pressure valve. A quiet bench in the garden, a sunny stoep for morning tea or a shaded spot for children to play – all offer moments of calm, joy and breathing room.Outdoor spaces don’t need to be large, but they should be intentional. Think: Raised garden beds that grandparents can tend to A patch of grass for barefoot toddlers Comfortable seating where teens can scroll or parents can unwind A braai area that becomes a shared space for connection and celebration Even small balconies or courtyards can become havens with a few thoughtful touches. In a busy, shared household, having a place to pause under the sky can make all the difference.✅ 6. Soundproof Smartly“Privacy isn’t just about space – it’s about silence too.”In a home where one generation is waking up early for work, another is studying late into the night and a toddler is napping after lunch, sound matters. Noise can quickly become a point of tension, especially when routines clash or rest is disrupted.Thoughtful soundproofing goes a long way in creating harmony. Consider: Insulated interior walls between bedrooms and living areas Soft furnishings like curtains, rugs and upholstered headboards to absorb sound Carpeting in hallways or upper floors to dampen foot traffic  Door sweeps and seals to reduce noise leakage These small details often go unnoticed – until they make all the difference. With the right materials and planning, this can help create calm for older family members or sensory-sensitive children and you can ensure everyone gets the quiet they need to thrive under one roof.✅ 7. Set Clear Boundaries – Visually and Functionally “Good fences make good neighbours – even in the same house.” When multiple families or age groups live together, things can get blurry. Who’s responsible for what? Whose guests are those? Is that shared milk or someone’s private stash? Clear visual and functional boundaries help prevent resentment and promote harmony. Use design to set the tone: Different flooring materials to signal private vs shared spaces Lighting zones to separate functional areas Small garden hedges or planters to define personal patios Labelled cupboards or fridges to avoid food fights Schedule boards or shared calendars for routines and responsibilities Even a symbolic boundary – a curtain, a room divider or a step down into a private suite – can send the message: “This is my space. You’re welcome, but please knock.” In doing so, you create respectful co-living – not just people under one roof, but individuals with shared values and mutual care. Parting Thoughts Designing a multigenerational home isn’t about building bigger – it’s about building better. It’s about creating a space that holds the noise of laughter and the quiet of rest, that honours privacy while nurturing connection and that adapts as your family grows, changes and ages together. With the right design choices – both practical and thoughtful – you can turn a house into a home that supports every generation under one roof, not just for now, but for years to come.  Disclaimer: This article is intended for informational purposes only and does not constitute architectural, legal or financial advice. In South Africa, the line between indoors and out is gloriously blurred. The patio isn’t just a pass-through or an afterthought – it’s where life happens. It’s where we sip our morning coffee, gather for a Sunday braai, watch summer thunderstorms roll in or sink into a lounger with a glass of wine and the dog at our feet. Whether you’re perched above the sea, shaded by Jacarandas or overlooking a manicured garden in the suburbs, your patio deserves as much intention and design focus as your living room. It’s an opportunity to create something both beautiful and lived-in – a space that reflects our culture, climate and connection to nature. From eco-conscious luxury to barefoot family fun, here are six distinctly South African patio ideas that celebrate the art of outdoor living. 1. The Braai ‘n Chill Nook In every suburb across the country, you’ll hear it: the comforting crackle of firewood and the familiar clink of tongs against a grid. The braai is more than a feature – it’s a ritual, a gathering, a generational rite passed on with smoke-scented laughter. And it deserves a setting that does it justice. A built-in braai crafted from brick, granite or natural cladding offers the perfect anchor, especially when paired with a dedicated prep counter, complete with a basin and shelves for enamel plates, condiments and cold drinks. Long benches – clad in earthy-toned cushions – encourage relaxed seating around the flames. A few wall-mounted planters filled with rosemary and wild garlic not only soften the hard edges of the space, but provide instant aromatics for seasoning chops and sosaties. There’s something unmistakably South African about this setup: tactile, warm and unapologetically social. It’s the kind of patio that becomes the heart of the home, where laughter lingers long after the fire has died down. 2. The Green Retreat There’s a growing desire to step back from the fast pace of modern life and surround ourselves with nature – not manicured or artificial, but grounded, wild and water-wise. This is where the green patio retreat comes into its own, with a design that puts sustainability and serenity at the centre. Indigenous plants thrive here: think hardy spekboom, sculptural aloes and the soft sway of wild iris. Raise your beds or use recycled steel troughs to introduce layers of texture and height. Walls become vertical gardens, while timber pergolas invite creepers – like granadilla or coral vine – to sprawl overhead, offering shade and a pop of green even in the heat of summer. In true South African fashion, a cleverly concealed rainwater tank makes sense here – tucked behind custom trelliswork and used to nourish your lush oasis through our unpredictable seasons. The result is a space that’s both calming and considered. This is your quiet retreat, your Sunday read nook, the place where birdsong replaces your inbox and the only ‘ping’ is the cork of a chilled white being opened as the sun dips. 3. The Family Stoep The stoep is a uniquely South African space – somewhere between a lounge and a landing strip for life’s daily chaos. Here, family spills over in every direction: kids chalking up walls, dogs stretched out in the shade and grown-ups dipping in and out of conversations over coffee, juice or the first G&T of the day. The foundation of a family patio is playfulness and practicality. Soft underfoot surfaces – like artificial grass or timber decking – keep little ones safe, while a shaded pergola or awning ensures everyone stays cool through the midday heat. Modular sofas give the grown-ups a spot to relax, while a built-in sandpit or a cheeky jungle gym keeps the younger crowd busy and happy. A vintage drinks trolley stacked with snacks, sparkling water and dried mango gives the space a touch of grown-up charm, while allowing for spontaneous snacking or sundowner moments. The design is layered but not precious – resilient, joyful and real. It’s a space that welcomes messy hands, muddy feet and the kind of connection that only happens when screens are swapped for swings and conversations stretch out beneath a summer sky. 4. The Ecoluxe Entertainer Sometimes, the most elegant patios are also the most thoughtful. There’s a new generation of hosts who are as passionate about sustainability as they are about aesthetics and this kind of patio blends conscious living with crisp design. A timber or recycled composite deck sets the tone – earthy underfoot and gentle on the environment. The patio kitchen becomes a focal point, with a sleek gas hob or wood-fired pizza oven built into a counter of honed stone or off-shutter concrete. Strip lighting beneath the countertops or benches provides a soft, ambient glow, allowing the space to evolve beautifully from day to night. Rattan and cane furniture, paired with organic cotton or hemp cushions in muted earth tones, give the patio a grounded elegance. Even the clean-up has been considered: a discreet compost bin is nestled near the prep area, encouraging a lighter footprint without compromising on style. It’s elegant but never try-hard, mindful without being militant. This is the kind of patio where you can host a candlelit dinner one night and a conscious brunch the next – all with the same effortless grace. 5. The Morning Coffee Corner Not every home has a sprawling outdoor area – but every home can have a moment. A small patio, stoep or even a townhouse balcony can be transformed into something soul-stirring with the right intention. The morning coffee corner is a tribute to that philosophy: compact, curated and just a little bit magic. A bistro-style table and two chairs – timeless in timber or wrought iron – instantly set the scene. Against a wall, planter boxes brim with mint, basil or lavender, sending up fragrance with every passing breeze. Hang a hammock chair or add a swing seat for a touch of whimsy and you’ve got yourself a perch for watching the morning light change while sipping a perfectly brewed cup. Repurposed wine crates or vintage wooden boxes can double as storage and planters, adding character and a hint of Cape nostalgia. It’s a quieter kind of beauty – personal, grounding and gentle. A pause built into the architecture of your day. 6. The All-Season Stoep In South Africa, we know to expect the unexpected when it comes to weather. A scorching highveld afternoon can become a lightning-lit downpour in minutes. That’s why an all-season stoep is not just clever – it’s deeply comforting. Frameless glass stack doors allow you to open up completely to the garden on clear days or close off when the weather turns, without sacrificing the view. Overhead fans keep the air moving in summer, while a portable firepit or sleek gas heater brings a touch of winter warmth. Built-in seating with hidden storage allows you to stash throws, board games or those favourite wine glasses – so you’re always prepared, whatever the occasion. Fabrics are chosen for durability, yes – but also for their ability to nod to the natural world. Ochres, olives and charcoals bring the outside in, even when the doors are closed. And when those doors open again, the scent of petrichor – freshly damp earth is all the invitation you need to step out and stay awhile. Outdoor Living, the South African Way The best patios aren’t about perfection. They’re about presence. They’re about creating spaces that serve you – your lifestyle, your family, your sense of calm and celebration. In South Africa, outdoor living is stitched into our everyday. It’s not an afterthought – it’s a birthright. We gather, we share, we breathe deeper when we’re outside. Whether you’re entertaining guests under a canopy of stars or simply soaking up the morning sun in silence, let your patio be a space that invites you to slow down, step out and connect. You don’t need a large space. You don’t need a big budget. You just need intention – and a little imagination. With the right design, your patio can become more than just a feature. It can become a way of life. Disclaimer: The patio design ideas and suggestions featured in this article are intended for inspirational purposes only. Always consult with a professional contractor, landscaper or architect before making structural changes to your home. Environmental and municipal regulations may vary by region – ensure that all outdoor installations, including braais, water tanks, and decking, comply with local building codes and safety standards. There’s a certain magic that only winter can bring – the hush of a cold evening settling in, the sparkle of a wine glass by soft light, the familiar crackle of a fire that draws people closer. A fireplace, in all its flickering glory, has long been the heart of the home. It’s where stories are shared, socks are dried and memories quietly collect like embers on the grate. But in 2025, this age-old symbol of comfort is being reimagined – elevated by cutting-edge design, clean-burning tech and a renewed desire for interiors that warm more than just the air. Today’s fireplaces are no longer just about heat. They’re about harmony, personality and purposeful living. Whether you’re drawn to sculptural surrounds or minimalist lines, gas-powered ease or eco-smart innovation, we’ve curated six fireplace design inspirations to help you find the perfect flame this winter. 1. A Statement of Distinction – Frameless & Built-In Fireplaces There’s something quietly powerful about a fireplace that doesn’t shout for attention – but gently draws your eye in with grace and elegance. In 2025, we’re seeing more and more homeowners fall in love with built-in, frameless fireplaces. They’re sleek, minimal and almost sculptural in their simplicity – flames that seem to float behind glass like living art. These fireplaces are designed to melt into the architecture, whether it’s stretching across a full feature wall or standing tall as a glowing vertical column. There are no chunky surrounds or traditional hearths here – just a seamless, modern moment that lets the fire do all the talking. They work beautifully in open-plan homes where you want clean lines, no visual clutter and a strong sense of calm. And if you’re working with a tighter urban space, these fireplaces bring all the luxury without taking over the room. Even better? Many models run on bioethanol or electricity, so they’re eco-friendly, highly efficient and chimney-free – high style with low effort. 2. Double the Glow – See-Through Fireplaces Now here’s a trend that feels like pure magic. Imagine curling up in the lounge with a book, while your partner enjoys the same cosy glow from the dining table – or even the bath. That’s the charm of a see-through fireplace. These clever two-sided designs are popping up in some of the most beautiful homes across the country and it’s easy to see why. They offer warmth, atmosphere and a design focal point for two rooms at once – without the need for duplicate installations. It’s efficient, visually stunning and it turns everyday spaces into something a little more special. They work particularly well as subtle dividers in open-plan homes or as a showpiece between master bedrooms and bathrooms. There’s a sense of theatre about them – but one that never feels over the top. Choose an electric or gas version with zone heating and you’ll save energy while keeping both spaces toasty – ambience and efficiency in one 3. Eco Elegance – Bioethanol Fireplaces Looking to go green without compromising on style? Enter the bioethanol fireplace – a clean-burning beauty that’s redefining sustainable design. These ventless wonders burn without smoke, soot, or ash – and they don’t need electricity or gas connections either. Whether you’re installing a wall-mounted model in the lounge or placing a portable tabletop unit in the bedroom, they offer real flames and maximum flexibility. They’re especially brilliant for smaller homes or apartments or areas with installation challenges and they are as kind to the planet as they are visually appealing. If low emissions, renewable fuel and elegant design matter to you, this is an effortless win – especially for design lovers with a carbon-conscious mindset. 4. The Revival Piece – Retro-Inspired Wood Burners There’s a romantic nostalgia about a traditional wood-burning stove – the scent of logs, the gentle creak of iron, the kind of heat that warms your bones. But in true 2025 fashion, these classics are getting a fresh design twist. Today’s wood burners are all about blending heritage with high design. Think matte black finishes, rich colours like forest green or deep burgundy and curves that nod to mid-century flair. They stand proudly in a room – sometimes even centre-stage – and offer a rich counterbalance to clean, contemporary lines. If you’ve got a modern space that’s craving a touch of soul, a retro-inspired stove will do just the trick. They’re also perfect for cottages, countryside retreats or homes that lean into a more eclectic or layered look. Image source: https://tinyurl.com/4xfcwtsd Of course, not all wood burners are created equal – so look out for certified models with high-efficiency ratings and convection fans to ensure you’re getting the heat without the emissions. 5. Mantel Magic – Bold Surrounds & Artisan Details Minimalism has had its moment – but maximalism is sneaking back in, especially around the fireplace. This year, designers are embracing the mantelpiece again – not as an afterthought, but as a showstopper. Oversized surrounds in marble, reclaimed timber, sculpted stone or textured concrete are becoming design anchors, grounding the room and drawing the eye in. Your fireplace surround doesn’t have to be loud to be bold. Even a subtle hand-carved detail or an unexpected material choice (hello, terrazzo!) can transform your fireplace into the kind of feature that guests can’t stop talking about. Image source: https://tinyurl.com/3smhcjhcThis trend is all about celebrating craftsmanship, individuality and the joy of creating a space that feels personal and lived-in. It suits generous living areas, gallery-style interiors or anyone who wants their fireplace to feel like an heirloom piece with character. The best part? You can pair a statement surround with any type of fireplace – bioethanol, gas, wood or electric – and still enjoy the best of both worlds: form and function. 6. Smarter Heat – Electric Fireplaces with Smart Tech Electric fireplaces have undergone a quiet revolution – and in 2025, they’re not just smart. They’re seriously good-looking, too. Gone are the days of boxy plastic units pretending to be something they’re not. Today’s electric fireplaces use LED technology to create hyper-realistic flames, some with colour-shifting effects or ember bed lighting that looks just like the real thing. But the real beauty? You can control everything from your phone or smart home system. Set the timer, change the flame intensity or turn the heat up just before you walk through the door – all without lifting more than a finger. Electric models are also a dream for families, pet-friendly homes and rentals.  Installation is easy, they give out zero-emissions and the energy-saving features make them surprisingly affordable. They’re stylish, affordable, zero-maintenance and easy to install – and with clever energy-saving settings, they’re light on the wallet too. Final Word: Where Comfort Meets Craft A fireplace is so much more than a fixture. It’s a feeling – a gathering place, a grounding element, a celebration of stillness and warmth. And whether you’re embracing the nostalgia of a wood-burning stove or installing a frameless modern masterpiece, the goal is the same: to bring light into the cold and connection into your space. In 2025, let your fireplace speak not only to your style but to your soul. After all, every great winter story begins with a spark. Disclaimer: The information provided in this article is intended for general inspiration and informational purposes only. While every effort has been made to ensure accuracy at the time of writing, fireplace designs, fuel types, and installation requirements may vary depending on your location, home structure, and local regulations. Accessories can transform your home if it is done tastefully. When choosing furniture, splash out on timeless pieces that are neutral in colour and then introduce colour with the accessories. If you are the kind of person who likes change as much as I do, a very easy and relatively cheap way of doing this is to accessorise these pieces of furniture with small colourful décor pieces like scatter cushions or ornaments. That way, if you get bored with the things that you have chosen, and want to keep abreast with current trends, it is inexpensive to change the look of your interior. Set a budget for these items Look at the room you want to transform and choose a colour scheme. Take a photo of the room before you go shopping Scan Google for a few ideas to see what other people have done internationally as well as locally. Go to fabric houses for swatch ideas. Less is more! Find one special item that you love, and accessorise that with neutral colours. It will make that item a special focal point in the room. Personalise your space by using family photos; or even find something that your kids have created. Your space should be comfortable and functional, don’t buy ornate pieces if you have small children. A throw over a lightly coloured couch can add colour and prevent spoiling. Shop at a store that your budget will allow for, or you will create disappointment. But also save for a classic piece that you really want and will appreciate. Take a friend with you with similar taste and enjoy! Why not donate the old accessories to a charity of your choice (mine is the SPCA shop!) Create a stress free sanctuary that you can enjoy. Remember that it is always the small touches that can make the biggest impact! [...] Read more...
Front door Don’t underestimate the power of a front door. People make up their minds in the first seven seconds of entering a house. The entrance should be freshly painted, have pretty potplants surrounding it, and incorporate the small touches like a working door bell, letterbox, and easily visible number. If you’re up for more exterior upgrades, move to the back or sides of the house, paying attention to garage doors and wooden decking, as well as any extras that are immediately visible from a first glance.  Flooring Don’t undervalue the materials you’re standing on. Ninety-four percent of real estate pros recommend spending some money on floors, but it doesn’t have to be a lot of money.  A few well-placed nails can eliminate distracting squeaks. Other small projects with a big impact include repairing broken tile, patching damaged floor boards, and tossing out the wall-to-wall carpeting. In some cases, however, a new floor is in order and will help you move a house that is stuck, or finish off the tone of the entire house. Neutral Colours If you’re getting ready to put a house on the market, don’t allow walls with chipped paint to go unmaintained. If you need to do more than a touch up, choose neutral colours – buyers want to be able to project their own ideas onto a space, and sellers can help with toned-down wall colour. Paint keeps your home looking its best while also defending its surfaces from wear, tear, and the elements. If you’re getting ready to sell, don’t blow thousands having every square inch repainted. Instead, focus on high-traffic areas, including the kitchen and bathrooms. Going Green If maintenance and repairs are in hand, put your money into green efficiency. If your heating, watering, or air conditioning systems are old, new ones could save you 30 to 40% on monthly bills.  Research estimates that energy savings add twenty times the annual savings to the value of your property – thus, energy savers make your house more desirable. Do the update green, because people are asking about the utilities and extra expenses for the first time ever. Don’t put off care and maintenance These kinds of fixes go a long way toward value. You don’t need to put a lot of money down to see a huge difference! Before thinking about a fancy upgrade to the kitchen, address the basics. Insulate the attic, repair plumbing leaks, replace rusty rain gutters, inspect the gas fireplace and the septic system, replace or repair leaky windows, install storm doors, weed the flower beds.  Investing in maintenance and repairs is not only money-wise; it could be crucial to a sale. Brokers and agents agree that the houses that getting attention are in tip-top shape. Create space People always need more storage and more space. Knock out a non-structural wall, or even remove that kitchen island. Anything that opens the space and creates a sense of flow in the house is generating a response from buyers who can afford to be choosy. Extra shelving, some attic space, or clever use of sliding doors instead of swing doors will add not only to physical space, but create the illusion of more floor room. For a relatively low cost, you’ll transform the feel of the house! The kitchen is still king Buyers of all kinds have long focused on the kitchen, but it holds particular sway over the newest wave of first-time homeowners. A “modern/updated kitchen” topped the list of ideal home features in our survey of millennials, registering as most important to more than a third of respondents. If you plan to sell, don’t rip your kitchen down to the studs; a smaller investment can have serious impact. For minimal cost you should be able to add a new suite of appliances, as well as a new countertop and flooring, resulting in a fresh, coordinated look. Applying a fresh coat of paint to the walls or cabinets can also breath new life into the space.  [...] Read more...
The 1st and free way to boost your properties appearance (and hence value) is to minimise clutter! When showing a property, it’s a good idea to put personal items like photos out of sight, as it will be easier for prospective buyers to see themselves in the space. Imagine you have a date coming round for the 1st time…everything should be neat, tidy and smelling fresh, burn a scented candle, buy an orchid! The kitchen Most property professionals will tell you that the kitchen, above all other rooms, will sell the home. Fix any visible damage especially that loose cupboard hinge. You could possibly upgrade a movable appliances as it will still make the kitchen look more modern even if you are taking it with you! Modernity sells and the return on investment will outweigh the spend. Bathrooms Buyers respond well to homes that are clean and well maintained. Whiten that bath! Again upgrade the taps, replace the mirrors. Go that extra step and replace the toilet. Paint The quickest way to brighten and renew a room. It also doesn’t mean you have to repaint the entire home as this can really add up, just be selective. High traffic rooms like the kitchen and bathroom are top candidates. Colorful rooms and walls are also priority, rather neutralise with a white or off-white as not everyone will agree with your choice of “feature colour” Exterior You know what they say about 1st impressions.  How do the walls look?  Mow the lawn.  Trim that overgrown hedge.  Put down a fresh layer of mulch over the flower beds. Pay particular attention to the roof as this is often a point of concern for potential buyers. Good luck and use these tips to sell your Home with Distinction! [...] Read more...
